This course of study focuses on space, its formation and creation, and spatial notation by presenting the elements of space formation, systematising the procedures of space design and explaining the methods of conditioning, of atmosphere and of spatial staging in an atmospheric and semiotic sense. The main focus is put on the development of theoretical design concepts for space and spatial ensembles. At the centre is the discovery of new solutions by the teaching of “function” and “sense” by looking at cultural and historical works of reconstruction. The premise is consistently space from its diverse historical and symbolic connotations and their structural dependency on culture, living environments and society. What is decisive is the development of methods, making them tactile and operable architecturally for new spatial constructs.
