Muthesius Kunsthochschule wird Teil des Digital Learning Campus

Großer Erfolg für die Muthesius Kunsthochschule in Kiel: Sie wird einer der Lernorte des „Digital Learning Campus“ (DLC) sein. Schon vorzeitig ist das Vorhaben „Digital Learning Culture Art Lab“ (DLCAL) vonseiten des schleswig-holsteinischen Bildungsministeriums bewilligt worden und soll bereits im Sommersemester anlaufen und dann im Wintersemester richtig durchstarten. Das insgesamt 4,2 Mio. Euro umfassende Vorhaben fördert das Land Schleswig-Holstein mit 90 Prozent.

Was das für die Kunsthochschule bedeutet? Als Lernort bietet sie künftig allen Lernenden die Möglichkeit, digitale und technologische Kompetenzen zu erwerben und zu vertiefen. Der Fokus des Projekts an der Muthesius Kunsthochschule liegt auf innovativen Designprozessen und Designmethoden, die Schüler*innen, Studierenden, Unternehmen und allen Interessierten vorgestellt und experimentierend vermittelt werden sollen. Studierende stellen „KUNST HEFTE“ im spce aus

Seit elf Jahren gibt es die Reihe „KUNST HEFTE“ an der Muthesius Kunsthochschule: eine Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem Lehrgebiet Buchgestaltung im Studiengang Kommunikationsdesign und den verschiedenen Klassen der Freien Kunst. Dabei arbeiten immer zwei Studierende aus den beiden Bereichen zusammen. Sie entwickeln gemeinsam eine Publikation, die erforscht, wie die Übersetzung einer künstlerischen Arbeit in ein Buchobjekt aussehen könnte.

Die Ausstellung „you and me and a book makes three“ zeigt alle 65 Hefte, die seit 2012 entstanden sind. Oft sind es die ersten Publikationen der Künstlerinnen und Künstler. Sie werden in kleiner Auflage gedruckt, meist von Hand hergestellt und bilden gemeinsam ein wachsendes Archiv von Künstlerpositionen an der Hochschule. Erfolge bei dem 28. Filmfest SH – Maria Muro und Sander Wolfgang Schaper ausgezeichnet

Gleich zwei glückliche Gewinner*nnen aus der Freien Klasse Film der Muthesius Kunsthochschule gab es auf dem 28. Filmfest Schleswig-Holstein. Maria Muro und Sander Wolfgang Schaper konnten sich dabei gegen starke internationale Konkurrenz durchsetzen.

Sander Wolfgang Schaper, Gewinner des „Blickfang“-Publikumspreises

Schaper, der derzeit an der Muthesius Kunsthochschule seinen Master in Freier Kunst mit Schwerpunkt Film und zeitbasierte Medien absolviert, erhielt den mit 500 Euro dotierten Publikumspreis in der Kategorie „Blickfang“. Sein Film „Irgendwo zwischen Leonardo und Löwentraut“ bietet eine satirische Auseinandersetzung mit der Kunstwelt. Die Preisverleihung fand in der Kieler Pumpe statt, präsentiert von den Kuratorinnen und Filmemacherinnen Pola Rader und Eugenia Bakurin, die auch die von der Künstlerin Katharina Linke gestaltete Trophäe überreichten. Neue Studierende zum Sommersemester begrüßt

Die Muthesius Kunsthochschule begrüßt ihre Studienanfänger*innen im Sommersemester 2024. Für rund 50 neue Studierende beginnt nun das Studium an der einzigen Kunsthochschule Schleswig-Holsteins – somit studieren derzeit 630 Studierende in den Studiengängen Freie Kunst, Kunst auf Lehramt an Gymnasien, Raumstrategien, Kommunikationsdesign und Industriedesign.

Application process

APPLICATION FOR THE WINTER SEMESTER 2024/2025 (semester start: 1 October 2024)

APPLICANTS WITH INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATES must also apply at Uni-Assist to study at Muthesius Kunsthochschule. The application deadline at Uni-Assist is 25 February to 25 April 2024. A subsequent registration is not possible!
From 01-15 May, you must then apply to Muthesius Kunsthochschule. Questions about Uni-Assist will be answered by Maud Zieschang (Tel. 0431/5198-501, fernweh@muthesius.de).


BACHELOR APPLICATION

01-15 May 2024: Registration in the online application portal and submission of the artistic portfolio.

  • B.A. Industrial Design, B.A. Scenography/Interior Design:
    • During the application period, you upload a digital version of your portfolio and your personal application documents to our application portal.
    • If you are invited to the practical part of the artistic aptitude test, you must bring your original portfolio to the university for the aptitude test. The works in your digital portfolio must be identical to the works you bring to the artistic aptitude test!
  • B.A. Communication Design, B.F.A. Liberal arts, B.A. Art teaching degree at grammar schools:
    • During the application period, you upload a digital version of your portfolio and your personal application documents to our application portal.
    • In addition, you must submit your original portfolio during the application period. The portfolio can be handed in from 02-08 May  and 10-15 May 2024 (May 01 and 09 are public holidays), Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the administration building (Verwaltung). Alternatively, you can send us the portfolio by mail (Muthesius Kunsthochschule, Prüfungsamt, Legienstraße 35, 24103 Kiel). Attention: Portfolios received after 15 May 2024 cannot be considered! Be sure to label the portfolio with
      • your applicant number, which you will receive by e-mail after registering in the online portal
      • the study program
      • your name.

You are expected to receive an e-mail at the end of May/beginning of June informing you whether you have passed the portfolio and whether you will be invited to the practical part of the artistic aptitude test.

Expected 11-13 June 2024: Practical part of the artistic aptitude test (Bachelor).

  • Assignments and colloquium on 2-3 consecutive days
  • On site at the Muthesius Kunsthochschule
  • Materials that need to be brought are listed in the invitation
  • Industrial Design, Scenography/Interior Design: Be sure to bring your original portfolio to the practical aptitude test.
  • Communication Design, Liberal arts, Art teaching degree at grammar schools: Your original portfolio will remain at the university until the practical aptitude test. If you are not invited to the practical aptitude test, the rejection notice will tell you when you can pick up your portfolio. In exceptional cases we can send the folder back to you by mail. Please contact studieninfo@muthesius.de for this purpose.

It is expected that you will receive notification by e-mail at the end of June/beginning of July as to whether you have passed the aptitude test.

MASTER APPLICATION

01-15 May 2024: Registration in the online application portal and submission of the digital portfolio and motivation letter.

  • All Master’s programs: Upload your personal application documents and a digital portfolio including at least three projects, letter of motivation and CV in our application portal.

You are expected to receive an e-mail at the end of May/beginning of June informing you whether you have passed the portfolio and whether you will be invited to the master’s aptitude interviews.

Expected 18-20 June 2024: Master’s aptitude interviews.

  • On site at the Muthesius Kunsthochschule.
  • In exceptional cases, the interview can be conducted online. Please contact the respective program coordinator (see below).

It is expected that you will receive notification by e-mail at the end of June/beginning of July as to whether you have passed the aptitude test.
