How do art and design students work and research? The Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel is opening its doors from Thursday 18 to Sunday 21 July for its annual exhibition “Einblick Ausblick “. During these days, studios, workshops, lecture theatres, studios and workspaces will be transformed into an exhibition covering around 10,000 square metres: guests can gain unique insights for four days with free admission: More than 600 students from the Fine Arts, Art for Teaching at Grammar Schools, Communication and Industrial Design and Spatial Strategies degree programmes will be showing the projects they have created during the academic year. Visitors to the art academy can find out about the artistic and creative work in art and design – the spectrum ranges from painting, drawing, photography, book design, video, sculpture and product design to multimedia installations.
The annual exhibition will be accompanied by a multi-day cultural programme organised by students: There will be concerts, DJ sets, performances, installations, theatre and film screenings, as well as hands-on activities for the whole family and an after-show party in the Bunker Club Kiel.
“Our annual exhibition Einblick/ Ausblick is a lavish celebration full of art and design,” says Arne Zerbst, President of the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design. “Our work in art and design is often a borderline journey, a walk on the edge, a treading of the unknown; our means: experimentation, testing new ideas and materials, artistic and creative research. As an art academy, we pave the way, we do iconic persuasive work for an open and better future! We are shaping the world of tomorrow – and want to show our perspectives to everyone who comes to us.”
On Thursday, 18 July, Arne Zerbst will officially open the annual exhibition in the inner courtyard of the art academy at 5 pm. During the opening, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) prize for outstanding achievements by international students at German universities will be awarded.
Opening hours: Thursday, 18 July, 5 p.m.: Opening in the inner courtyard of the Kunsthochschule on Legienstraße. All rooms (the Gallery Cubeplus at Knooper Weg 104, the Fine Arts rooms at Knooper Weg 75 behind Boesner and at Flämische Straße 6-10) will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. after the opening and on the other exhibition days from Friday, 19 July to Sunday, 21 July.
