Important Information for Applicants with international certificates
Applicants with international certificates must additionally submit their certificates through Uni-Assist.
– Uni-Assist Application Deadline for the Winter Semester 2026/2027: February 25 – April 25, 2026.
– Application at Muthesius Kunsthochschule: May 1 – 15, 2026.

BACHELOR APPLICATION
1-15 May 2026
- B.A. Industrial Design, B.A. Scenography/Interior Design, B.F.A. Liberal Arts, B.A. Art Teaching:
- B.A. Communication Design:
- Registration on the online application portal. Please upload a digital version of your portfolio and your personal application documents.
- In addition, the original portfolio, which must be identical to the digital version, must also be submitted within the application period (4-15 May, Monday-Friday, 10:00-12:00, Administration Building) or sent by post (address: Muthesius Kunsthochschule, Prüfungsamt, Legienstraße 35, 24103 Kiel). Portfolios cannot be submitted on May 1 and 14 (public holidays). No more portfolios will be accepted after May 15, 12:00. Please label the portfolio with the degree program, name and applicant number (you will receive the number after registering in the application portal).
You will probably be informed at the end of May/beginning of June whether you have passed the portfolio and will be invited to the practical part of the artistic aptitude test.
Expected June 30 – July 2, 2026: Practical part of the artistic aptitude test.
- Tasks and colloquium on 2-3 consecutive days (you will receive the exact dates with the invitation)
- On site at Muthesius Kunsthochschule
- Materials that must be brought along are listed in the invitation
- B.A. Industrial Design, B.A. Scenography/Interior Design, B.F.A. Liberal Arts, B.A. Art Teaching: Please remember to bring your original portfolio to the practical aptitude test.
- B.A. Communication Design: Your original portfolio will remain at the university until the practical aptitude test. If you are not invited to the practical aptitude test, you will be informed in the rejection letter when you can collect your portfolio. In exceptional cases, we can return the portfolio to you by post (at your own expense). Please contact studieninfo@muthesius.de for this.
You are expected to receive notification in July as to whether you have passed the aptitude test and have been admitted to the study program.
MASTER APPLICATION
1-15 May 2026
- All Master’s programs: Please upload your personal application documents as well as a digital portfolio including a letter of motivation and CV to our application portal. Please refer to our application documents for the required number of projects/works in the portfolio.
You will probably be informed at the end of May/beginning of June whether you have passed the portfolio and will be invited to the Master’s aptitude interview.
Expected June 16-18, 2026: Master aptitude interviews.
- On site at Muthesius Kunsthochschule or online via Zoom.
You are expected to receive notification in July as to whether you have passed the aptitude test and have been admitted to the study program.
