In project-oriented format, the production of space is dealt with at the interfaces between art, architecture, media and urbanism. A definition of space which has considerably changed in the last few years especially under the influence of electronic media and the transfer of »virtual spaces« to a material environment requires new methods of analysis, interpretation and research as well as of design and conception methods. Space is understood as a cultural »screen« on which the social, technological and political relations are shown and entangle themselves across disciplines.
The design of these (user) surfaces is to be developed in the mutual effect of theoretical and practical approaches. The research phase and the development of analysis concepts is thus equally of central significance as is their translation into concept strategies and spatial concepts. The understanding of contemporary image worlds and view regimes within a dominant, visual culture is a pre-condition for the production of space, which can be seen increasingly under the conditions of performance and theatricality in the sense of a self-strenghtening »politics of visibility«. Filmic methods and medial strategies form a central field of reference for strategies of spatial design. The thematic arc spans the analysis or development of interfaces and displays, from temporary and changeable spaces via artistic strategies up to guiding systems and urban interventions. Themes: analytical methods, conception strategies, view regimes, micro-architecture, medial spaces, artistic spatial strategies.
